Here's an idea. The problem is that all those libraries are not in Jerusalem. Theoretically there is a possibility of an inter-library loan. I need to find out how to do it.

And there's of course the other way: listen to the books in their audio form. I have many of them on my hard drive, and most are absolutely amazing to listen to. Some people (Pas) can't imbibe books this way but I find it extremely entertaining and advantageous, comparing to traditional reading.

You mean you can put them somewhere where I can download them? I'm not an audio person, but it is worth a try.

I sure can. Any preferences as to the title?

One of Going Postal, Carpe Jugulum, or Night Watch. Thanks.

Ok, thanks. When you say "English texts", you mean full books included?

Actually, it was pretty good. The performance is quite entertaining, and you can do the house chores while listening. I can't listen to music while doing dishes, for example. I just tune it out. But words seem to attract the mind to them.

One curious detail: I can recall only the names of the few main characters. (The names I see in print I remember instantly, at least for a short term).

1) there is a special English-language library in Jerusalem, I think somewhere in Nachlaot. I guess people on Janglo would know.
2) check out www.anglobooks.com
3) order from Amazon and have someone from the US ship it
4) audio books

Janglo?

1. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/janglo/
2. a few times. it's great if you find exactly the book you're looking for and near you.
3. definitely worth checking out
4. not as far as I know. check out www.audible.com

4) Unabridged audio books are 4 times as expensive as mass market paperback.

you get a few books for free during the no-obligation trial period:)) I've never used it, but it's an option:)

also, they might available elsewhere for less or free. try e-mule or bittorrent.

Peer-to-peer downloading works well only when many people "sync" on the same item. For example, when the last Harry Potter came out it was easy to get a scanned version (and also the first six as well). In this case there's nothing to sync on, so I doubt it'll work.

oh, I didn't mean scanned books, I meant audio books on eMule

I'll try 2), then. There's someone in Katamon. Maybe (s)he'll trade for the Iliad or something :). Actually, coming to think of it, we have a whole assortment of books in English that we'll never read again, but are loathe to throw away or sell.
